The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

I enrolled at Penn State in fall of 1942 where I became a member of the Blue Band and Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity through the military draft. I entered the Navy and was assigned duty aboard the battleship USS South Dakota with services in the central and south Pacific. From here I was chosen to enter the 2 year V-12 officers program and returned to Penn State. This NROTC training was later changed to require a college degree. I chose commerce and finance along with necessary navy courses in navigation, gunnery, fire control, etc. A trombonist, I formed and became teacher of the NROTC band and dance band, a member of the Glee Club as well as president of the Blue Band and Symphony orchestra. In Sept. 47 I married the former Betty Jane Hain (Elem Ed 47) and subsequently became a realtor and insurance broker in Lancaster, and formed Glenn E. Orndorf, Inc. having been active for 44 years. Sadly, BJ passed away in Nov. 2006. I have daughters Connie E. Jeff whose husband Dennis continues my firm in Lancaster, and Jayne O. Mc Cawley who resides in Steamboat Springs, CO. I am proud of 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
